Behind every cup of coffee are real families planting, harvesting, and carrying the beans we savor each day. Too often, those very families live in unsafe, fragile housing.
At The Generous Venture Project, we believe they deserve better. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to build safe, dignified homes for coffee worker families living in poverty right where your coffee begins.
Founded by Tom Hackett and Henry & Cheryl Ong, and supported by a circle of trusted advisors, we are mobilizing the global coffee community to take responsibility, share resources, and bring hope. With local coffee farm owners leading the way, together we are restoring dignity and transforming futures… one family, one home at a time.
Give, Go, Fall In Love

THE GVP COFFEE FAMILY MANIFESTO
A Call to Build Homes for the Hands That Grow and Harvest Our Coffee
WE BELIEVE...
Coffee is more than a drink. It’s a ritual. A rhythm. A relationship.
From a quiet morning brew to a bustling café, coffee connects us. But behind every bean is a story and too often, a home in ruins.
We believe the people who grow and harvest coffee should not live in plastic tents, leaky shelters, or unstable shacks. We believe that generosity not just sourcing should define the coffee industry. We believe that the culture of coffee is a culture of family, and that family shows up when one of our own is in need.
WE REFUSE...
To sip from the fruits of another’s hardship. To build a global industry on local poverty. To settle for ethical sourcing on paper while ignoring suffering on the ground.
WE COMMIT...
To see the invisible. To love the overlooked. To build homes not just markets. To use the platform of coffee for something more: justice, dignity, and shared humanity.
WE INVITE...
Coffee drinkers. Baristas. Café owners. Roasters. Importers. Executives.
Whether your name is on the bag or the tip jar—we’re inviting you in. To give. To go. To fall in love with the people behind your product.
Because if we say we love coffee, then we must love the people who make it possible.
THIS IS OUR MOVEMENT.
Not for charity. But for family. Not for guilt. But for honor. Not out of pity. But out of shared purpose and deep gratitude.
From bean to cup, from farm to home let’s build together. This is the Coffee Family. And everyone is welcome.
